Springfield’s N0-Kill Pet Shelter

Pets to Go matches people with pets.Pets to Go is a nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter serving the Springfield area. Our mission is to give these homeless animals a second chance through our rescue, shelter, and adoption programs.

We were founded in 1990 with a few simple objectives: save and place cats and dogs in new homes, and educate the public about spaying and neutering their pets.

We’re now one of the largest no-kill shelters in the state! Each year, Pets to Go helps more than 1,300 cats and dogs find permanent homes.

Pets to Go needs your help in many ways:

ADOPT: Make all the difference in the life or a dog or cat.

VOLUNTEER: Help us save the lives of hundreds of abandoned and unwanted pets each year.

DONATE: Support our life-saving mission.

Lucky Stars and a Bright Future: Meet Astro!

Astro is a resilient survivor who can truly thank his lucky stars! After a frightening car accident, this brave boy fought through his recovery at the vet hospital in Springfield. He has since transitioned to a temporary foster home, where he is safe, warm, and looking forward to his next big chapter.

His Personality & Appearance

  • A Sweetheart at Heart: While he is currently very scared and a bit nervous in new environments, his true colors shine once he settles down.
  • Loves Affection: As soon as he feels secure, Astro absolutely loves being petted and showered with human attention.
  • Lean and Energetic: He sports a sleek, lean, and lanky build. His fosters joke that he looks fit enough to run a kitty marathon, though he secretly weighs in at a sturdy 11 pounds!

Give Astro His Forever Home

This wonderful two year old, 11 lbs neutered male, has been through so much and is searching for a patient, loving family to give him the permanent security he deserves. If you are ready to show Astro what a true “forever home” feels like, he is ready to meet you!
